Premier League Summary – Manchester City beaten! Pellè’s goals are not enough to save the Saints from defeat

The sixth round of the Premier League is history, but as usual most of the results are resounding

Here are the results and scorers:

Chelsea-Arsenal 2-0 (Zouma, Hazard)

Swansea-Everton 0-0

Aston Villa-West Bromwich 0-1 (Berahino)

Stoke City-Leicester 2-2 (Krkic, Walters; Mahrez, Vardy)

Bournemouth-Sunderland 2-0 (Wilson, Ritchie)

Newcastle-Watford 1-2 (Janmaat; 2 Ighalo)

Manchester City-West Ham 1-2 (De Bruyne; Moses, Sakho)

Tottenham-Crystal Palace 1-0 (Son)

Liverpool-Norwich 1-1 (Ings; Martin)

Southampton-Manchester United 2-3 (2 Pellè; 2 Martial, Mata)

The surprise of the day, if one can call it so given the recent results, is Manchester City defeat at the hands of West Ham, before their home fans at the Etihad Stadium. Another 1-2 defeat after that obtained during the week against Juventus in the Champions League.

Chelsea lifted themselves up the table, winning 2-0 against Arsenal in a thrilling London derby. Recriminations by Arsenal for the two sent offs (Gabriel and Cazorla) which left them with nine men on the pitch, but what counts is the final result with Chelsea obtaining all three points.

Everton failed to break the deadlock at the Liberty Stadium after the sensational result obtained against Mourinho’s Blues last week, despite playing most of the game in attack. Martinez’s men failed to score and Swansea can consider themselves lucky to have earned a point from this match.

Leicester continue it’s positive run and with Manchester City’s defeat, remain the only undefeated team in the premier, coming from behind against Stoke to draw 2-2.

Southampton and Manchester Utd. shared a 5 goal thrilling match at St. Mary’s Stadium. Graziano Pellè, the italian striker, scored twice for the Saints, but his goals were not enough to avoid defeat as two goals from the young French starlet Anthony Martial and one Mata gave the whole three points to the Red Devils. De Gea in goal for United, had an outstanding performance to keep the Saints at bay
