The England forward could have extended his side’s advantage soon after when he shot wide from the penalty spot conceded after Saint‘s Nathan Redmond brought down Alli in the area and was shown the red card.
It was the episode which changed the game for the Spurs who with a man advantage added two more goals from substitute Son Heung-Min and Alli to secure victory and end the year in high spirits.
