The 60-year-old has signed a two-year deal to take the helm at E10, and will take charge of the O’s for the first time in the Checkatrade Trophy encounter at Southend United on Tuesday.
Cavasin has managed a number of clubs in Serie A during a management career spanning over 21 years, and while with Leece in 2000 picked up the Panchina D’Oro award for the Italian Coach of the Year in Serie A.
Alongside Cavasin, the club have also added Alfredo Vergori as Head of Fitness, who will work alongside fitness coach Simone Lucchesi.
Interim manager Andy Edwards will now revert to his assistant manager role and will continue to work with first-team coach Danny Webb as part of the O’s backroom staff.
