Liverpool and Man. United after all the clutter about their clash both teams offered a disappointing 90′ with the inevitable goalless draw which does little for the ambition of both teams.
After a week of mounting excitement for a match between two great rivals of English football, their Monday Night clash ended with the inevitable classic result of a goalless draw.
Liverpool went into the game looking forward to their fifth successive Premiership victory to put them joint leaders with Man. City and Arsenal, but had to leave two points behind as they succumbed to Josè Mourinho defensive organization and discipline.
With both teams aware of the importance of the stakes in play, few were the chances created even if Liverpool had most of the possession and shots at goal. On the other hand United never allowed their opponents to built the momentum and intensity which has been a characteristic of their game this season.
However the best chances came after the break with David de Gea pulling two fine saves to stop Emre Can and Phillipe Coutinho from finding the back of the net for Liverpool.
Whereas Zlatan Ibrahimovic too went close to break the deadlock for the Red Devils when unmarked he directed a Pogba‘s cross off target.
A point each which leave both team’s ambitions intact.
