“I had a dream… The first Monday in May. Precisely on May 2nd, 2016.
A weekday, one of those rainy days that will never be remembered.
At 23:00 I go to bed and dream a strange dream.
A very strange dream indeed.
My dream takes place in England and has as principal character a small English team:
Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City.
This team which started the Premiership with the intent of avoiding relegation, game after game managed to put in line the strong Manchester and London teams.
The small town explodes with enthusiasm and the pubs and squares are invaded by every living person in Leicester to pay tribute to the protagonist of this soccer miracle.
In the morning, before going to work, I rethink about this strange dream of mine and I say to myself:
“It would be wonderful if a story like that were to come true. Our football world, full of problems, jam-packed with money and regulations which satisfy and dissatisfy at the same time, is tiresome and there is no place anymore for stories, dreams don’t exist anymore.”
Thus since we don’t have any football arguments to recount, we want to try and recount this dream, this novel.
It’s impossible to stop the dreamers, and we beg your pardon if for a while longer we still want to play with dreams and fantasies. “
