Arsenal and City shared four goals to take a point each which leave both teams unsatisfied. Same could be said of Swansea and Middlesbrough who figured earlier in a goalless draw.
With Chelsea loosing on Saturday it was important for Manchester City to collect three pounts ahead of Wednesday clash at Stamford Bridge to open the title race wide open.
Same could be said for Arsenal who needed badly to win to keep their top four finish hopes alive.
In the end both teams had to settle for a point each as the game ended in a 2-2 draw. It was City who drew first blood when Leroy Sanè found the net after just 5′ play.
Arsenal equalised in the 40′ when Theo Walcott was quick to take advantage of hesitant City defence.
The equaliser seemed to awaken the Citizens who after hitting the post regained the lead in the 42′ through Sergio Aguero.
In the second 45′ the Gunners once again managed to equalise through Shkodran Mustafi who headed in an Ozil corner.
Earlier in the afternoon relegation-threatened Swansea and Middlesbrough shared points in a goalless draw were both teams had their moments. But it was Swansea who went near to score in the second period when Victor Valdes produced a spectacular save to keep Gylfi Sigurdsson from finding the net with a long-range shot from the edge of the box.
A point each which does little to improve both sides deficitary position as Swansea remain just a point above third from bottom Hull whereas Middlesbrough remain second from bottom five points adrift from of safety.
