Both London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham registered New Year’s victories which put them third and fourth in the table respectively.
What a start for London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham on New Year’s Day.
At the Emirates, the Gunners needed a win to overtake Manchester City in third place and win it was. But all the fans and the soccer public in general are talking of is not the win in itself but Olivier Giroud‘s incredible goal which opened the way for Arsenal to overcome Crystal Palace.
A goal that will be remembered for a lifetime. An incredible acrobatic overhead flick which met a Sanchez‘s cross which finished in the back of Palace net leaving all wandering why this French international is not always included in the first eleven.
Arsenal sealed victory in the second half when Iwobi scored a second to put the Gunners in third place on 40 points just three behind Liverpool and nine from leaders Chelsea.
Earlier London rivals Tottenham trashed Watford at Vicarage Road 4-1 with Harry Kane and Dele Alli scoring two goals apiece.
Spurs dominated all through the 90′ and the Hornets had no answer to the display put in by Pochettino’s men.
Only in added time and the match won, did Watford obtain their consolation goal through Younes Kaboul.
Three points which put Spurs in fourth place on equal points with Manchester City a just a point behind eternal rivals Arsenal.
And on Wednesday they host leaders Chelsea. A game which could change Premiership history for both teams.
