The Premiership gives way to international duties as we analyse the current situation.
The Premiership gives way to the national squad but Day 7 was a very significant one, as Guardiola suffered his first defeat of the season at the hands of Tottenham who now are just one point behind the Sky Blues.
This result confirms that no team is unbeatable and City need to sweat hard to win the title. On the other hand Spurs‘ moral got a big boost and for sure they can be considered as serious contenders to win the title.
Day 8 will see City at home against Everton whereas unbeaten Tottenham will travel to The Hawthorns to face West Brom. Both matches will say a lot about the state of form of both teams ahead from midweek Champions League duties.
In third place Arsenal and Liverpool.
The Reds still unbeaten and without midweek duties have so far impressed having played and beaten top teams like Arsenal (A), champions Leicester (H), Chelsea (A) and drew with Tottenham at White Hart Lane. Jurgen Klopp‘s side for sure is a force to reckon with as they host Mourinho‘s Red Devils on Day 8.
On the other hand the Gunners who so far have been impressive on and off and apart the significant win over Chelsea at home have so far left for late to obtain the three points. Their next game will be at the Emirates against struggling Swansea who have just sacked Guidolin, appointing American Bob Bradley as their new manager.
So far The Toffees have done well and their fifth palace ahead of teams of the like of Manchester United and Chelsea, confirms this. But lately they seem to have lost some of their verve after having lost away to Bournemouth and drew at home with Crystal Palace. Their next game away to Manchester City will for sure say a lot of Ronald Koeman‘s boys.
For both Manchester United and Chelsea this season was to be their revival at the top places under top managers the like of Josè Mourinho and Antonio Conte.
But till now both teams were a big disappointment especially the Red Devils with both their record signings Josè Mourinho and Paul Pogba still to proof their worth. On the other hand Antonio Conte is still struggling with many a defence problems and still depends much on captain John Terry.
For sure Chelsea who face Leicester at Stamford Bridge and Man. United who travel to the Merseyside to face Liverpool on Monday Night will tell if these teams can continue to dream of glory or prepare themselves for another anonymous season.
The same can be said of champions Leicester. Great in Champions League with two wins but anonymous in the Premier, as they prepare themselves to face Chelsea in a match of life or death for both teams.
At the bottom of the table poor West Ham having lost already five games in a row and the draw with Middlesbrough can be a ray of hope as they will travel to Selhurst Park for their London derby against Crystal Palace that might change their season.
