What a comeback for Newcastle! From 1-3 they fought back to win 4-3 with Dwight Gayle, Magpies hero with a hat-trick.
No Newcastle fan at St. James Park, would have imagined that mid in the second half with the Magpies down 1-3 against Norwich would in the end come out winners 4-3.
It was a thrilling match which kept all fans stripped to their seats till the final whistle. The first 45′ saw Benitez side go in front with the first goal of the night for Dwight Gayle when he met Matt Ritchie‘s cross to beat McGovern in the 24′. But before the end of the half Graham Dorrans from the penalty spot equalised for Norwich.
As the game restarted the home team found themselves 1-3 down as Cameron Jerome and Jacob Murphy had put Norwich two goals clear. All seemed lost for the Magpies but they fought back and after the second from Gayle in the 71′, it was Gouffran‘s close-range finish that levelled the score in the 95’.
Not even the time for the home fans to rejoice that Gayle obtained a 96′ dramatic goal to put Newcastle in front and the St. James erupted with joy.
