A 68′ penalty by Forestieri sinks Huddersfield as they missed the chance of regaining the top of the Championship.
At the final whistle of the Yorkshire derby saw Huddersfield Town missing the chance to go back top of the Championship as they went down to neighbours Sheffield Wed. losing also their 100% unbeaten record at the John Smith’s Stadium this season.
In front of a record league crowd, the Owls looked the brighter side as Jones cross-shot clipped the top of the bar but the best chances came to the home side through Kachunga and Palmer, but Westwood was attentive.
After the break it was again Sheffield Wednesday who went close to break the deadlock when Forestieri hit the post but made no mistake from the penalty spot in the 68′ after La Parra handled Tom Lee‘s shot in the box. For Fernando Forestieri this was his fourth successive goal against the Terriers.
The best chance to level the score for the home side came through Kachunga who saw his shot cleared on the line by Pudil whereas on the other end Palmer in stoppage time should have made it 2-0 but unmarked inside the box, shot straight at Ward.
This defeat leaves the Terriers third in table level points with Newcastle a point behind leaders Norwich whilst Sheffield Wed. climb to seventh place on level with Bristol City and Birmingham.
