Newcastle continue to lead the Championship as both Norwich and Huddersfield suffer big defeats. Brighton are now second three points from the top.
With two goals from Aleksander Mitrovic, leaders Newcastle obtained an away 2-1 win at Preston North End.
The Magpies now enjoy a three point lead over Brighton who in turn trashed 5-0 at home Norwich.
Same faith for Huddersfield Town who went down with the same result at Craven Cottage against Fulham.
In fifth place Reading, after McCleary and Gunter netted both goals with which they sunk their former club Nottingham Forest.
Good wins for former English league giants Leeds and Derby County. Both teams obtained a 2-0 home victories over Burton and Sheffield Wed.. Wins which lift Leeds just under the promotion zone and Derby above relegation zone.
Mangerless Wigan obtained an important victory away against relegation opponents Cardiff with a late Jordi Gomez goal whereas bottom-of-the-table Rotherham obtained a 2-2 draw at Ipswich.
After sacking Italian manager Walter Zenga in midweek and appointing Rob Edwards in his place, Wolves obtained an away 1-1 draw at Blackburn. A point which gives the Wanderers some breathing space in the table.
Finally on Friday night Barnsley and Bristol City drew their game 2-2.
