Eriksen provided, Alli delivered and Chelsea, last night, went reeling to the floor. Conte failed to make Premiership history as the Blues winning stream ended at unlucky 13. Sweet revenge for Pochettino after loosing title with a defeat at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea saw their bid to make Premiership history last night evaporating as they suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of London rivals Tottenham, for the joy of all title contenders, mostly Liverpool which now are just 5 points behind.
With an impressive crowd behind them Spurs were superior to the leaders and with the Christian Eriksen providing and Dele Alli delivering scored twice to collect all three points and move to third place on level with Manchester City.
Chelsea‘s only chances of the game fell to Eden Hazard but in both cases the Spur‘s defence managed to survive.
With this their third defeat in 20 league games, even though the gap at the top has been reduced to 5 points, Chelsea are still the most consistent of all the teams who have title ambitions.
For Tottenham‘s boss Mauricio Pochettino it was sweet revenge after last May’s defeat at Stamford Bridge signified the end of all title dreams.
Now all attention shifts to the FA Cup with Tottenham facing Aston Villa and Chelsea who take on Peterborough.
