Forest should consider themselves lucky to have obtained a point against Villa with a late Lansbury goal.
A late Henri Lansbury equaliser gave Nottingham Forest an unlikely draw against Aston Villa who dominated the first 45′, hitting the post through McCormack and missing chances by Ayew and Kodjia.
But it was Forest who took the lead on 57′ when Apostolos Vellios hammered in to break the deadlock.
Di Matteo‘s side was unfortunate not to equalize when Jordan Ayew hit the bar but first McCormack equalised on the 72′ and then Gestede, two minutes later put the Villans in front.
But when the Villans seemed to obtain their second victory of the season with three minutes to go, Lansbury obtained Forest equaliser which left the home side just 6 points whereas the Reds are now tenth with 10 points.
