Ancora un rinforzo per il roster del nuovo Napoli Basket, arriva Aamir Simms, con un accordo su base annuale.
L’ala grande USA (203 cm) nasce il 17 febbraio 1999 a East Orange (New Jersey). La prima parte della sua crescita cestistica avviene alla Fluvanna County High School prima di ottenere una borsa di studio alla Blue Ridge School con cui vince due campionati e viene nominato Player of the Year della Virginia centrale.
Al college veste la maglia dei Clemson Tigers per quattro anni raggiungendo la Sweet 16 della NCAA nella prima stagione. Nell’estate del 2021 gioca la Summer League con i New York Knicks per poi disputare l’intera stagione con i Westchester Knicks nella NBA G League.
Nella stagione 2022/23 approda in Europa con la maglia del Paris Basketball con cui gioca 30 partite in quintetto base in campionato (13.2 punti, 6.4 rimbalzi e 2.7 assist tirando con il 60% da 2 e il 45% da 3) e 15 gare in Eurocup (13 punti e 4.6 rimbalzi con il 62% da 2 e 40% da 3).
Nella stagione 2023-24 arriva in Italia a Venezia dove disputa due ottime stagioni con la Reyer giocando anche in Eurocup. In campionato colleziona 55 presenze realizzando la media di 10,4 punti a partita e 4,8 rimbalzi il primo anno, mentre nella scorsa stagione realizza 7,8 punti e 3,7 rimbalzi. Torna a Napoli dove ha vinto la medaglia d’oro alle Universiadi con la rappresentativa Usa nel 2019.

Napoli Basketball is proud to announce the signing of American forward Aamir Simms to a one-year deal. The 6’8” (203 cm) power forward was born on February 17, 1999, in East Orange, New Jersey. He began his basketball career at Fluvanna County High School before earning a scholarship to Blue Ridge School, where he led the team to two state championships and was named Central Virginia Player of the Year.
Simms went on to play four seasons at Clemson University, helping the Tigers reach the NCAA Sweet 16 in his freshman year. In the summer of 2021, he joined the New York Knicks for NBA Summer League action and then played the full season with the Westchester Knicks in the NBA G League.
He made his European debut in the 2022–23 season with Paris Basketball, starting 30 league games and averaging 13.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists, shooting an efficient 60% from two and 45% from three. In EuroCup play, he added 13.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, shooting 62% from two and 40% from deep over 15 appearances.
Simms moved to Italy in 2023 to join Reyer Venezia, where he spent the last two seasons competing in both domestic league and EuroCup. In Lega Basket Serie A, he tallied 55 appearances, averaging 10.4 points and 4.8 rebounds in his first year, followed by 7.8 points and 3.7 rebounds last season. He now returns to Naples, where he previously won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2019 Universiade.
