An only goal from Budimir gives Crotone a win over Modena to extend its lead at the top of the Serie B after Cagliari could only manage a point at Livorno. Both Bari and Novara confirmed their third and fourth place with wins over Perugia and Trapani. At the bottom important wins for Salernitana over Ascoli and Ternana over Como.
Crotone extended their lead at the top to three points as they came out winners on Sunday night over Modena with the third consecutive goal from Budimir whilst Cagliari on Saturday could only manage a 1-1 draw at Livorno, although going into the lead through Farias after 3’ from the start but Vantaggiato equilized for the home team at the beginning of the second 45’. Important wins were obtained by both Bari and Novara to consolidate their respective third and fourth place.
At the San Nicola, at lunch time, Bari defeated Perugia with a fine shot from outside the box by defender Stefano Sabelli whilst Novara trashed Trapani 4-1 in the second period with goals twice Evacuao, the first from the penalty spot, an own goal by Trapani defender Fazio and substitute Dickmann, Rizzato scored the only goal for Trapani.
Cesena continued to drop points as they were beaten 2-0 by Pro Patria with goals coming from Rossi and Di Roberto penalty and are overtaken by Brescia and Pescara who secured maximum points from their respective matches against Vicenza and Virtus Entella. Brescia’s hero was undoubtedly Andrea Caracciolo who scored both goals for the rondinelle, as Raicevic pulled one back for Vicenza in the opening minutes of the second half. Pescara on the other hand with a goal in each half from Memushaj and the Serie B’s top scorer Lapadula brushed away Virtus Entella challenge.
Important victory for Spezia who obtained their second in succession thus going up the table to eleventh place on level points with Trapani and Perugia and one above Livorno, when they beat 2-1 Latina with the a double from Nené, with Dumitru scoring Latina’s equaliser just before the end of the first 45’.
At the bottom Avellino, Salernitana and Ternana all gained three important points in their struggle to avoid being mixed up in relegation. Avellino edged Virtus Lanciano with a narrow
3-2 win coming from 0-2 down to win the game with a Luigi Castaldo goal three minutes from the end. More convincing were the wins obtained by Salernitana 2-0 over Ascoli and Ternana who trenched Como 4-0.
