Both Inter and Napoli win as they warm up for next week big clash at the San Paolo. The Nerazzurri now have a two point lead at the head of the table from Napoli and Fiorentina who had to fight hard to earn a point from their derby with Empoli after going down 0-2 at half time
Round 13 of the Serie A started with Roma dropping a point at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium against Bologna on Saturday under a torrential downpour which made the pitch almost impracticable. Bologna opened the score in the 14’ through Masina but goals second half goals from Pjanic (52’) and Dzeko (72’) from the penalty spot gave Roma the lead only for former Mattia Destro to level the score for Bologna from the penalty spot with 3’ for the final whistle. Whereas the big clash between rivals Juventus and Milan at the Juventus Stadium in Turin saw the outgoing champions get the upper hand with a second half goal netted by argentine striker Paolo Dybala.
In Sunday’s midday clash at the Bentegodi against Verona, Napoli scored twice in the second half through Insigne and Higuain to earn a good win in their warmup for Monday Night big clash against leaders Inter. Maurizio Sarri’s side in Verona showed quality football which makes them potential contenders for the Italian Serie A title.
The big surprise came from the Artemio Franchi in Firenze where the home side, Fiorentina went down 0-2 in the first 45’ to Empoli’s goals from Litvaja and Buchel. Only in the second half the Viola showed their usual football and managed to save a point with two goals from Serbian striker Nicola Kalinic. With this drawn Fiorentina now is in second place with Napoli and tails leaders Inter by two points.
Inter who in Sunday’s evening match managed to score four times against Frosinone on their first ever appearance at the Scala of football. Inter opened the score on the strike of the 30’ through Biabiany who put in the net Ljajic deflected shot by keeper Leali. Inter doubled the score in the 53’ after a combination Ljajic-Icardi with the argentine striker netting his fourth goal of the season. In the dying minutes of the game defender Murillo (his first in Italian football) and substitute Brozovic added to Inter’s toll. Even if heavily defeated Frosinone performance was a good one and in the early minutes of the game it was Handanovic who avoided that Castillo and Soddimo could do any damage.
Elsewhere Atalanta lost at home to Torino with the decisive goal being netted by Bovo in the early minutes of the second half. Genoa’s dramatic 2-1 win over Sassuolo with the last shot of the game by Pavoletti, after early in the second half Rincón gave the Grifone the lead and Acerbi netting Sassuolo’s goal in the third minute of added time.
Vincenzo Montella had a bad start as Sampdoria’s new manager, losing his first game in charge at the Friuli against Udinese who scored midway the first half through Badu. Same fortune for reinstated Carpi’s former manager Castori who saw his side defeated again at home by Chievo 2-1, whislt Lazio, contested by its supporters, could only managed a draw from the penalty spot taken by substitute Candreva, as Palermo under new manager Davide Ballardini, took an early lead through defender Goldaniga.
