Napoli new Serie A leaders

Napoli’s victory over Inter puts them in first place a point above the nerazzurri who in 10 men for all the second 45’ fought hard to obtain a point. In third place, Fiorentina who only managed a draw away at Sassuolo. Third consecutive win for Juventus. Disappointment for Roma defeated at home by Atalanta, whereas Milan regain the winning form defeating Sampdoria at San Siro. At the bottom important wins for Frosinone and Carpi.  A day to forget for both Chievo and Verona who now bottom sacked manager Andrea Mandorlini.

The Monday Night at the San Paolo saw Napoli defeat Inter in a thrilling game to overtake the nerazzurri at the top of the table as new leaders. The difference undoubtedly was Gonzalo Higuaín, ‘il Pipita’, who scored twice to put the partenopei ahead 2-0, but Inter, in 10 men for all the second half for the sending off of japanese Nagatomo, fought hard and managed to pull one back from Ljajic and in the dying minutes both the post and Reina denied them from a well deserved draw.

Earlier Fiorentina could only manage adraw against Sassuolo, although going in front after only 5’ with a goal from Borja Valerio, but before the end of the first half Fioccari equalised for the home team.

Disappointing day for the Rome’s teams who both suffered defeats. Roma going down at the Olimpico at the hands of Atalanta 2-0, whereas Lazio were defeated at Empoli 1-0. Same faith for the teams from Genova and Verona. Sampdoria still searching for their first win under new coach Vincenzo Montella went down at San Siro Stadium 4-1 against Milan of ex Mihajlovic, whislt Genoa were surprisingly defeated 1-2 by lowly Carpi who obtained the first ever away win in Serie A with goals from ex Borriello and Zaccardo after Figueiras after 8’ had put Genoa ahead. Verona, now bottom of Serie A sacked manager Andrea Mandorlini, after being defeated by Frosinone 3-2, whereas even the other team from Verona, Chievo  were defeated at home by Udinese, with ex Cyril Théréau scoring twice in the friulani 2-3 win.

Finally wins for both Turin’s teams. Juventus coming out winners 3-0 over Palermo at the Renzo Barbera with goals coming from Mandzukic, Sturaro and Zaza. For the bianconeri this was their third consecutive win which puts them in fifth place with 24 points, only 7 adrift from first place and 6 from second. Even Torino obtained 3 points from their clash with Bologna coming out winners with goals from Belotti and Vives.
