A last minute goal by Diego Costa, earned Chelsea and new boss Antonio Conte the first three points for this season in the first of the London derbies against West Ham.
The last of this season favourites to go into action, Chelsea earned three important points in their first game of the season at Stamford Bridge with a last minute goal from Diego Costa who fired home, a Michy Batshuayi cross to beat London rivals West Ham 2-1.
Antonio Conte‘s boys had to sweat hard to overcome West Ham as the match up to the last minute was locked in a 1-1 draw, with the Hammers playing a good defensive game.
The first half saw Chelsea on the attack but could not find a breach in the West Ham defence and it was only in the first minutes of the second 45′ that the Blues broke the deadlock with a penalty taken by Eden Hazard after Michail Antonio fouled Cesar Azpilicueta.
With the advantage in hand, Chelsea seemed in command but in the 77′ West Ham equalised as James Collins hammered home from a corner kick.
With the game again in a deadlock it was only in the 89′ that Diego Costa found the net again to give the Antonio Conte and Chelsea fans something to cheer about and to put his team level with both the Manchester sides and Liverpool.
