From the Premier League to Catanzaro in Lega Pro. The story of Kamara and God the Money

Diomansy Kamara, ex of Fulham, West Bromwich Albion and Leicester, last year was the centre of attraction of the transfer market with the return to the origins

In 1999, Catanzaro, whilst playing in C2, acquired his services. In Calabria, he remained for two seasons, netting 9 goals in 34 games.

Last summer, out of the blues, the big news – Kamara returns to Catanzaro.  A hoax? No not at all.  Catanzaro’s president Cosentino announced this big deal and the whole city went crazy.

During the airing of the radio programme “Il Pungiglione Stabiese” we contacted our colleague of Radio Catanzaro, Vittorio Giummo, to have the latest on this deal:

“The player was given a great welcome by the supporters. A salary of 250,000 euros was agreed upon, a big sum for the Lega Pro. An astonishing sum for the category. First the injury, then the club’s financial difficulties put an end to Kamara’s story.”

Kamara now plays for North East United FC, a team of the major Indian Championship. We are sure he will be have a high salary, but not the crowd’s warm welcome when he landed in Calabria, venerated as a God.

It is true to say the God the Money is much more powerful than God the Ball.
