Swansea City have completed the signing of Tyler Reid from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.
The 18-year-old defender has signed a three-year deal at the Liberty Stadium and looks set to link up with the club’s Development squad ahead of their pre-season tour of Scotland later this month.
The powerful right-back joined United from Arsenal’s youth ranks in 2012 and played against Swansea City’s Under-18s in the merit round of the league last season.
“I am really looking forward to a fresh challenge and getting started,” he said. “I see a good opportunity to play first team football with the Development squad here.
“I see myself as a quick, strong and powerful player who likes to get forward. I hope I can offer something both in attack and defence.
“Swansea play good attractive football and I think that suits my style of play.”
The young defender also represented Manchester United at the Milk Cup during his time at Old Trafford.
The experience introduced him to Swans striker Oliver McBurnie, whilst on loan from his previous club Bradford City three seasons ago.
“Ollie scored the winner in the final for us that year and had a fantastic tournament,” he continued.
“It will be good to see him again and it helps me to come here already knowing someone you have played with before.
“I’ve also got links with Josh Vickers (Arsenal) and Kenji Gorre (Manchester United) because they played at my previous teams.
“Having grown-up in London and living in Manchester for the last four years, Swansea will be a fresh challenge for me. It is one I am looking forward to, I can’t wait to get started.
“I want to make my mark, secure a starting place for the Development squad and help make an impact this season
