Italian soccer gave tribute to the Paris massacre victims with the playing of the “La Marseillaise” and a minute silence in all stadiums as the second division got under way with leaders Cagliari extended their lead to 4 points on second placed Crotone and Bari
A very emotional start to day 13 of the Italian Serie B with the notes of “La Marseillaise” and a minute of silence to honour France victims which gave away to Cagliari extending their lead at the top the table with a convincing 3-0 win at La Spezia with goals coming from Melchiorri (34’, 49’) and an own goal by Valentini. Now the Isolani have opened a 4 point lead over second placed Crotone who only managed a draw at Lanciano after opening the score through Ricci in the first 45’, with Lanciano levelling the score with a great volley by Piccolo with only 4’ to go and Bari who scored an important win 2-0 over promotion rivals Cesena at the Manuzzi with goals coming from De Luca and Maniero.
Elsewhere Livorno and Vicenza figured in a 2-2 draw at the Picchi Stadium with the game gaining momentum in the second 45’. Important wins where registered at home by Salernitana against Novara with Donnarumma scoring the decisive goal for the hosts, Avellino with a 3-1 win over Latina, Modena 1-0 over Pro Patria, Brescia 3-0 over Trapani and away wins for Entella over Ternana 2-1 and Pescara 2-0 over bottomed placed Como at the Sinigaglia. Finally Ascoli who managed to register their first win under new coach Devis Mangia thanks to an important goal by Cacia in the 77’.
